CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) — Opening arguments are scheduled this morning in the murder trial of a man accused of gunning down a St. Louis County police officer.
Trenton Forster is accused of first-degree murder in the October 2016 death of 33-year old officer Blake Snyder.
Snyder had responded to a peace disturbance call in South County. Forester was 18 at the time.
The decision not to seek the death penalty was made before new prosecutor Wesley Bell took office.

Among the witnesses, Snyder's partner, who was there and shot Forster several times. Forster was hospitalized for a time, but has since recovered and has been held on $1 million bail ever since.
Snyder left behind a wife and infant son.
The trial is expected to take about five days.
