ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - One charge against Bar: PM owner Chad Morris has been dropped by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office according to his attorney.

Morris was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest after officers crashed into his bar in December 2023.

Morris's attorney Javad Khazaeli says they were initially led to believe the entire case was dropped, only to learn it was the resisting arrest charge was dropped.

"Apparently, there's some new strategy from the Circuit Attorney's Office that we're trying to figure out," said Khazaeli to KMOX. "What should've happened today with this criminal case is it should've ended."

Khazaeli says they are still trying to wrap their head around why only one charge was dropped but believe it has to do with their push to get more documentation on the arresting officer's disciplinary records.

"I'm just hoping that they are just not trying to use some maneuver to try and prevent us from bringing in the record of the officer who was the instigator.

Khazaeli adds a judge said he will rule by next Friday if the police department must turn those documents over.
