St. Louis (KMOX) - The St. Louis Board of Aldermen agree on a pandemic aid package following hours of debate.

The $168M bill includes $500 payments to 10,000 residents affected by the pandemic, a $1.25M vaccine incentive gift card program, $2M for intentional homeless encampments, and restoring the $5M police overtime budget.

The homeless encampments would be controlled by the Treasurer's office and Human Services.

Before the hearing, Mayor Tishaura Jones said the bill didn't meet federal requirements for spending American Rescue Plan funds.

"I could imagine some people saying I deserve some of that funding as well because I have basic needs that are not being met," Alderman Jeffrey Boyd said.

The bill now goes before the Estimate and Apportionment Board. It's not clear if Mayor Jones will support it.
