Jury selection will begin on Friday for the trial of the man who killed retired Police Captain David Dorn.
Dorn was guarding Lee's Pawn Shop when he was shot and killed during a night of riots in the summer of 2020. Stephan Cannon, 26, is accused of killing him.
KMOX's Kevin Killeen heard from people who live near Lee's who said that they've been following the case.
"This is a crime scene" one woman near Lee's said. "Most people don't put value on life."
"Well those that were involved, they need to be conviced for taking a man's life," another resident added. "That was a senseless murder."
Cannon has been held without bond since his arrest, when a TV set matching one stolen from the pawn shop was found in his house, and surveillance video allegedly showed his face. He's charged with first degree murder.
