Will legislators be able to ban kids under 13 from using social media? It's the goal of upcoming legislation that has bipartisan support.

Brian Schatz, a progressive Democrat representing Hawaii, and Tom Cotton, a conservative Republican representing Arkansas, have come together to sponsor legislation that would set a limit on social media from kids under 13 years old.

KMOX Legal Analyst Brad Young explained what might happen with the bill. He pointed out that while Facebook currently has an age restriction of 13, it's fairly easy to bypass.

"How many times have we seen kids in restaurants who are obviously younger than 13, and their parents set it up and give them a phone to keep them busy?" Young said. "So the best, well-intentioned legislation that is easily bypassed by parents by hands, by uncle's by others, that really breaks the system down. So while this legislation may have a very good intention, I think it's weak in terms of enforcement."

Brad Young also talked with KMOX about CNN's Don Lemon and Fox News' Tucker Carlson, and what's next for them after being fired from their respective networks. Plus, he discussed the ACLU's lawsuit against Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey regarding his bans of gender affirming care — and more.
