COVID-19 cases climbing in St. Louis County

BERKELEY, Mo. (KMOX) - Health officials say St. Louis County's number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise steadily.

"There's more virus in the community now than there was a week ago, and much more than a month ago," said St. Louis County Public Health Department spokesperson Christopher Ave.

The health department's latest rolling seven-day average is nearly 250 new cases per day.

That's more than a 27% increase over the past week.

The positivity rate is now just under 13% in St. Louis County.

Officials say given recent trends and progress of new subvariants, they recommend COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, wearing masks indoors, and getting tested if you show any symptoms of COVID.

"If you feel sick, get tested. We have great therapeutics that we didn't have earlier in the pandemic. They will help you get better if you have COVID, but they only work if you can get diagnosed and get the medicine quickly," Ave said.
