
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - According to the US Census that came out last month, the St. Louis region grew in population but at a much slower rate than other comparable cities. It was knocked out of the top-20 list of the largest metro areas in the US for the first time in more than a century.

So where are people going when they put St. Louis in their rearview mirror? The U.S. Census Bureau has now compiled a list of just that.
Here are the top-10 areas people from St. Louis have moved to between 2014-18. In cases of Chicago and Kansas City, although many people from St. Louis moved there, it was less than the number of people who moved from there to St. Louis:

Net Migration: 2,100 to Springfield

Total migration to Dallas: 2,951
Net Migration: 1,157 to Dallas
4. Columbia, Mo Metro Area
Total migration to Columbia: 2,758
Net migration: 799 to Columbia
5. Kansas City, MO-KS Metro Area
Total migration to Kansas City: 2,660
Net migration: 396 to St. Louis
6. Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, TX Metro Area
Total migration to Houston: 1,846
Net migration: 1,177 to Houston
7. Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, AZ Metro Area
Total migration to Phoenix in: 1,686
Net migration: 1,137 to Phoenix
