The Illinois Senate is set to consider a bill that would mandate reproductive health kiosks on college campuses. The kiosks would provide emergency contraception, or Plan B, at a reduced price.

According to WCBU radio, the kiosks will be there to help ease the stress for students seeking Plan B when student health centers are closed.

One state Senator, Neil Anderson, is against the bill because of his views on abortion.

“You wanna sell condoms, that’s fine. You wanna sell regular birth control, fine. You start killing things that I believe are life, I have a problem with my tax dollars going to that,” he said.

While some legislators may be against a bill that makes abortion medication available college campuses, that is not what the bill calls for. Emergency contraception like Plan B are not abortion pills, but are a form of birth control that can be taken if another form fails or if people engage in unprotected sex. It does not work if someone is already pregnant, and does not harm existing pregnancies.
