ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Police have released more details about a fatal accident that left a man dead and three teenagers arrested on Saturday.
Police say they attempted to pull over a 2016 Hyundai Sonata that had been reported stolen from the Hazelwood area. It was around 3:30 p.m. when the vehicle fled from police at a high rate of speed near the Vandeventer neighborhood of north St. Louis. Police say they ended their pursuit shortly after the car sped off.
About three blocks from where the pursuit began, the car ran a stop sign and T-boned a truck at Evans and Vandeventer Avenues. It struck the truck hard enough to flip it over onto the side of the road and the truck ignited. The 53-year-old driver of the truck was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead, police say.
Three teens inside the stolen car were arrested at the scene and taken to the hospital for treatment, police say. They were all between 16- and 17-years-old.
