ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri is officially back in the film industry as the Show Mo Act and the Entertainment Jobs Industry Act went into effect in January 2024.

Last Summer, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson officially signed both bills into law, reinstating a tax credit for certain expenses related to the production of TV and film projects. Missouri previously had a tax incentive for TV Production projects but have not had one since the previous one expired in 2013.

Explore St. Louis VP of Communications Cat Neville told KMOX in August the incentives are each 5% tax credit and that movie production can each credit from doing anything like filming half of their production in the state, giving positive messaging about of some of the landmarks in the state, filming 15% in rural areas of the state and so forth.

With the tax credit now in effect, one St. Louis non-profit is working to help get the area back on the map to film tv, movies and commercials.
