Bird lovers around the St. Louis area can now resume stocking their bird feeders, after a major outbreak of Avian Flu.

Chris Jacques of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources says precautions should still be taken. "And even after they resume bird feeding activity, if they could clean them regularly, and clean up any bird feed at the base of the feeder to minimize direct contact between any bird species is always a good thing."
"The risk associated with infection between song birds and non-resident water fowl is even lower," says Jacques explaining that feeding can resume now that migratory birds have left the area, and won't intermingle at feeders with native species.
