BARNHART, Mo. (KMOX) - A man was been arrested after allegedly assaulting a 70-year-old double amputee who confronted the suspect for parking in a handicap spot.
Robert W. Brooks III, of High Ridge, Missouri parked his truck outside a gas station in Barnhart, about 30 miles south of St. Louis. Video shared by the Jefferson County Sheriff's office shows Brooks leaving the store and seeing the victim next to his truck. Police say the victim asked the suspect if he had a handicapped placard.
Just outside of the camera's view, police say Brooks assaulted the victim and threw him to the ground. The video shows the victim hitting his head on the sidewalk and his crutch laying next to him.
Police say he "suffered multiple injuries during the attack" and "he is still feeling the effects" from the incident that happened on July 18.
