HARMONTOWN, Miss. (AP/KMOX) - A University of Mississippi student has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the killing of a 21-year-old from St. Louis in 2019.

Brandon Theesfeld was 22-years-old when he was arrested for the killing. He was given life in prison, but will be able to petition for a conditional release after he turns 65 and has served at least 15 years of his sentence, according to a plea agreement.

“Sorry for the pain I caused you. I wish I could take it back if I can. I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive me,” Theesfeld told the judge and his victim's family in court, according to WREG.

Ally Kostial was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds near Sardis Lake in Mississippi in July 2019. She also attended The University of Mississippi and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

She graduated from Lindbergh High School in St. Louis County.

Theesfeld, a Dallas native, was caught a few days after the killing at a gas station in Memphis.
