ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri's minimum wage will rise another 30 cents for a total hourly wage of $12.30 on January 1st.
The raise is part of an annual minimum wage increase, which has been mandated by Proposition B since 2018 and required an 85 cents raise in wages each year through this year. When Prop B passed, the minimum wage was set at $7.85.
Beginning in January, the minimum wage will begin to increase or decrease based on the cost-of-living reflected by inflation. All private businesses are required to pay the $12.30 hourly rate, according to the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
Illinois is also seeing the minimum wage go up in January, with the number climbing up to $14. Twenty other states are seeing an increase in wages, impacting nearly 10 million workers.
