A national cancer drug shortage hasn't hit Siteman Cancer Center here in St. Louis yet.

Experts say the U.S. is currently suffering one of the most severe shortages of three chemotherapy drugs it has seen in three decades.

"I do want to reassure your audience again, that at least at the Siteman Cancer Center, we have adequate supplies," says the Center's Dr. Ramaswamy Govidan, "all three drugs our patients are getting treatment without any interruption or any problem at the moment, but we are keeping a close watch on supplies."

Dr. Govidan tells KMOX's Amy Marxkors and Chris Rongey hopefully this shortage will be rectified within a few weeks or a couple of months.
