ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's been a difficult year for U.S. Marine Corps veteran Robert Miller and his wife Charlene. Their St. Louis home burned down in January and the couple, who have been married for 45 years, lost all their belongings. They had no car and had to rely on others to get to the doctor and see their two adult children and three grandchildren.
During a socially distant ceremony ahead of Veteran's Day, Miller was given a new car and six months of insurance. Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Progressive Insurance teamed up for the program called Keys to Progress and distributed 45 new cars this year to military veterans, including Miller, who says the car will help them return to normal life and see their grandkids more often.
Miller served in the Marine Corps from 1974-1976 in Okinawa, Japan. He received a Good Conduct Medal while serving as a weapons armorer.

This year, each car was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
Since the program started in 2013, veterans and their families have received more than 750 cars.
