ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones is taking some heat after engaging in an argument on social media with an alleged victim of domestic violence. Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt called her a "national embarrassment." The mayor's office says she expressed concern for what happened to the woman.

Schmitt tweeted out an article about the very public exchange and pulled one of the Mayor's comments when she told the woman, "Learn how government works then you can talk. #Gurlbye"
The argument happened on Facebook after a video was shared by a woman who reportedly was abused by her husband. KSDK reports Mac Payne was arrested for throwing scalding hot soup on his wife on Jan. 4. The woman, who's name wasn't released, was upset at the Mayor after Payne was released from prison.
She shared a video of a woman dancing and tagged Mayor Jones, believing the woman in the video was her. The post said, "She has time to dance but not care about her constituents needs. Tishaura O. Jones can definitely go to the nearest hell."
The mayor commented back from her personal Facebook account, saying it wasn't her. Then the woman blamed Jones that her husband was allowed his freedom after posting a $20,000 bail – he was charged with two felony counts of domestic assault.
She said it was "YOUR judges" that allowed him out. But Jones responded and said she doesn't appoint judges, stating "Learn how government works, then you can talk. #GurlBye."
The argument continued and a screenshot was shared by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, here.
