ST. LOUIS (KMOX) updated Jan. 12 - The Muny's 2021 season will open on July 5.

Muny Managing Director Kwofe Coleman tells KMOX, "Our risk tolerance isn't any higher and we will continue to focus on safety."

The season normally opens in early to mid June. If all goes well, the seven show season will run until a little later, the Labor day weekend. Coleman says, "We are excited about what it (launching the season)will mean, because if we can do the season that means the world has improved."

Coleman adds the season is one thing but being able to is the more important piece.

The Muny will host the following shows in 2021:

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers: July 5–11
Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins: July 14–22
Smokey Joe’s Cafe: July 25–31
The Sound of Music: Aug. 3–9
Sweeney Todd: Aug. 12 – 18
On Your Feet!: Aug. 21–27
Chicago: Aug. 30–Sept. 5

The Muny suspended the entire 2020 season for the first time in 102 years due to the pandemic and offering online shows instead. The last time music rang out on the iconic stage in Forest Park was August, 2019.

CEO Denny Reagan said of their hope to reopen next summer: "Safety, the comfort of our audience and the climate of the public health crisis will be the ultimate deciding factors."

Season subscriptions go on sale March 22nd. Single tickets are available June 1st.
