ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- This afternoon's tornado watch is canceled for southern and eastern parts of the KMOX listening area.
National Weather Service says the risk of severe storms and tornadoes has ended for the St. Louis metro, although we can still expect non-severe soaking rains. There is still a risk of dangerous weather in far southeast Missouri and southern Illinois, closer to Paducah, Kentucky.
Rockwood School District earlier said all after-school activities are cancelled today. Students enrolled in "Rockwood Adventure Club" should be picked up as soon as parents are able. East St. Louis schools closed for the day.
Here's KMOX meteorologist Dave Murray's updated forecast:
The good news...the solid threat of severe weather is shifting south and east of metro STL…still rain and storms with heavy rain, local flooding, thunder and lightning…but not monster severe stuff.
WEDNESDAY:
Windy with periods of rain and storms...heavy rain, thunder and lightning...but the severe weather surge is shifting south and east of metro St. Louis.
HIGH: 60s, but dropping into the 50s by late afternoon
WEDNESDAY NIGHT:

LOW: 38 degrees
