
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - There have been three deaths and sixteen human cases of the West Nile Virus in Missouri this year. Cases are also rising nationwide.
West Nile in Missouri is responsible for 15 hospitalizations. According to Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services, this is a large increase compared to last year. You should continue to use repellent with DEET, picaridan or I-R-3-5-3-5.
Wear long sleeves and pants, especially when outside at dusk or dawn. Dispose of standing water and make sure door and window screens are secure.
