It was a tragic discovery Tuesday night when Baton Rouge 3-year-old Devin Page Jr. was found shot in his bed by a stray bullet that pierced his bedroom window of his home after a gunfight outside.
Now though, at least his family will be able to put him to rest without financial stress compounding their grief thanks to an NBA legend with deep ties to the Pelican State’s capital city and its community.
Shaquille O’Neal will be teaming with the Greater Beulah Baptist Church to pay for the toddler’s funeral, family members told WBRZ.
The fatal gun violence took place on Fairfields Avenue in Baton Rouge between two people who are so far not believed to have a connection to Page’s family, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
O’Neal has had a strong connection to Baton Rouge since playing his college basketball at LSU in the early 1990s.
