SALEM, Mo. (KMOX) - A group of firefighters in Missouri are being lauded for their efforts to make sure a family and their fish were safe after their home caught fire.

The Dent County Fire Protection District says a home near Salem, Mo. had flames showing and heavy smoke coming out on Sunday. They made their way inside and "quickly" knocked down the flames, according to a Facebook post.

Not only did the firefighters help prevent anyone from being injured, but they also saved a number of fish from a tank inside the home.

Torrie Maryfield, who said on Facebook that she was the home owner, thanked the "amazing" crew and says her fish have a new, safe home.

The Fire Protection District also thanked the Dent County Sheriff's Office, SMDH EMS, and City of Rolla Fire & Rescue Investigation Team for their help.
