It was another great year for Intrust Bank Arena in downtown Wichita.
Lindsay Poe Rousseau, CFO for the county, said 2019 was the third best year in the history of the downtown arena. Poe Rousseau presented the news to the Sedgwick County Commission on Wednesday.
Intrust Bank Arena hosted a total of 87 performances in 2019, with over 328 thousand tickets sold. After all of the expenses were paid, the net building income was just over $1 million. The county's portion of the profit was $311 thousand.
The arena has several big events coming up this year in celebration of its 10-year anniversary, including the rock band KISS next week, Blake Shelton in March and the Backstreet Boys in August.
The commission also approved a resolution to add an additional member to the Third District's Citizens Advisory Board. Commissioner David Dennis said he wanted to add a high school student to the board.
We also learned that between March 26 - 28, along with April 2 - 4, the county will host a community e-waste collection event. It will be held at the county's Public Works West Yard at 47th St. South and West Street.
