The Wichita City Council has approved an agreement with a local business to help run events at the redeveloped Naftzger Park and Evergy Pavilion in Old Town.

The council selected Wave Old Town to produce special events and concerts at the park at Douglas and St. Francis. Those services will include marketing, booking talent, along with serving food and alcohol.

A couple of local entertainment companies expressed concern with the proposal. But in the end, the council unanimously approved the one year pilot program agreement, on the condition that a review take place at the end of the year.

The city will make a profit if the venue takes in more than $50,000 in 2020. The most the city could lose is $25,000.
