
The Kansas Department of Education has recommended all schools coming off spring break or that are in session this week be suspended for the week.
USD 259 says that Wichita Public Schools are on spring break this week, so there is no immediate impact on the district, but a decision will be made by Wednesday or Thursday on what the statewide plan will be going forward.
Dr. Randy Watson says that closing all schools during the same period of time allows officials the time needed to finalize a comprehensive plan for the COVID-19 virus and it is critical that all districts follow a coordinated response to the situation.
