Several thunderstorms packing high wind and large hail rumbled through Wichita and parts of central Kansas Wednesday evening. Hail as large as baseballs was reported from Salina to Wichita. Winds up to 70 miles per hour and heavy rain leading to street flooding were also reported.

A 71 mile-per-hour gust was recorded at Wichita's McConnell Air Force Base, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita. The storm caused some damage to trees, vehicles, and buildings. No injuries are reported. The storms knocked out power to about 5,000 customers in the Wichita area.
