Witnesses reported a lightning strike started a fire at an apartment complex in Junction City Saturday evening.
That blaze broke out just before 6 p.m., at a 36-unit building at the Geary Estates Apartments.
Geary County Emergency Management Director Garry Berges said crews contained the fire to the roof. After searching the building twice, emergency personnel confirmed no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Firefighters from Grandview Plaza, Geary County, Junction City, and Fort Riley all responded to the complex.
The American Red Cross is assisting personnel from Fort Riley and other displaced families.
