The fiscal condition of Sedgwick County in the first nine months of 2023 remains sound.
Brent Shelton, Deputy Chief Financial Officer, reports that five county property tax supported funds are up about $21.5 million through the third quarter, while expenditures are up $14.1 million.
While the report remains positive, Shelton reminded commissioners that there are several pressures outside of the county's control, including inflation, interest rates, federal and state legislative decisions and low unemployment.
At the end of each quarter, the county's Division of Finance prepares a report of the status of key County revenues and expenditures and approved capital projects, accompanied by unaudited financial statements for all major County operating funds.
