A pipe manufacturing facility is coming to Sedgwick County.

The proposed 134 thousand square foot facility will be located in the city of Maize, near 53rd Street North and 119th Street West. A roughly $1.5 million grant from KDOT will fund the construction of the necessary rail and road infrastructure. Local support from Maize and county will total roughly $233 thousand.

Commissioner Ryan Baty says it's the county's job to promote an environment that attracts and retains its future workforce and is pleased the facility will be built in our region.

Charlotte Pipe and Foundry builds cast iron and plastic pipe and fittings for plumbing and irrigation. They will invest $63 million in the project and plan to break ground in January. The plant should open in 2025, with average annual salaries around $55 thousand.
