Sedgwick County Commission Chair Ryan Baty says 17 new satellite voting sites opened up this week in the county, with more than 100 voting sites open on election day, next Tuesday. Baty says the county wants to make voting quick and convenient, expanding access, with no more than 5,000 voters assigned to any polling place.
Firefighters have been busy recently, battling wind-blown grassfires during a drought. Baty tells KNSS News a recent fire at K-96 and Webb in northeast Wichita had County officials worried last week. He says county commissioners were on the verge of issuing a disaster declaration, but county and city firefighters brought the blaze under control.
