After an executive session Tuesday, the city of Wichita agreed to a $5 million settlement in the death of Andrew Finch. The vote was 6-1 in favor of the settlement, with council member Jeff Blubaugh casting the lone no-vote.

Council member Brian Frye said the ordeal has been a horrible situation for the Finch family and while the settlement can’t bring back Andrew, he hopes it provides them some relief. Mayor Brandon Whipple echoed Frye’s comments and said he hopes the settlement helps move the family forward.

Andrew Finch was shot and killed in December 2017 by Wichita Police officer Justin Rapp, following a false murder-hostage situation reported at Finch's address by a serial hoax caller from California.
