City seeking input on Wichita Bicycle Plan

In 2023, the City of Wichita launched the planning process for the updated Wichita Bicycle Plan. The initial phase of the project included a first round of public engagement opportunities that included advisory and stakeholder meetings, two public surveys, a public open house and multiple pop-up events throughout the community.

The goal of the plan, which is updated every 10 years, is to develop a comprehensive biking network that identifies priority projects to make biking safer, more comfortable and convenient and captures the community's vision and goals for biking in Wichita. The plan process is now in its final stages and a draft plan is available for review and input.

Residents are invited to view the draft plan at WichitaBicyclePlan.com and send comments to LCarmichael@wichita.gov or SLKnebel@wichita.gov. The plan is then slated to be presented to the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Meeting on Monday, November 18  before being presented to the City Council in December.

"The Wichita Bicycle Plan is a project that would enhance an already well-established community vision for bicycling that offers actionable projects that the public has helped us prioritize through a robust public engagement process," said Lee Carmichael, traffic engineer for the City of Wichita.
