The Sedgwick County Commission approved contributing $150 thousand to come up with a comprehensive strategy for developing and retaining a talented workforce for the region.
It comes a day after the Wichita City Council approved the same amount of money to support the workforce of the future project by the company Deloitte.
Commissioner Sarah Lopez says she has been a part of several conversations that discussed how to retain and attract young talent in the region.
Just like the city, the county plans to use APRA funding to support this project. You will recall the total cost of the study is $500 thousand. The state of Kansas and the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas are the other partners in the project.
Also at Wednesday's meeting, the board unanimously approved two resolutions.
The first will create new personnel policies and procedures regarding dispute resolution. The second concerns employee code of ethics.
Commissioner Jim Howell having a code of ethics policy is important for Sedgwick County and all of its employees. He also thanked everyone for allowing extra time to get it right.
The board first discussed the items back in August but wanted a little more time for employee feedback and questions.
