Sedgwick County will consolidate their tag offices into one location later this month.

Commissioners approved a $410 thousand buyout to terminate the lease agreement for their E. Kellogg tag office. That location will close October 9 and the entire staff will move to the tag office at Douglas and Meridian, starting October 14.

Treasurer Brandi Baily says the consolidated office will allow them to better serve the citizens of the county, by fully staffing every window throughout the day. She says the county will save around $360 thousand per year, or over $1 million by the end of 2028, when the lease was originally set to expire.

The county reiterates that no jobs will be lost in this move and adds that having one location will allow more leverage with the state to request adequate funding.

The county currently has three satellite tag office locations: at 620 N. Rock Road in Derby, at the Park City City Hall building at 1941 E. 61st Street N. and at 610 S. Tyler Road. They plan to add 3 additional satellite locations at the downtown Ruffin Building, located at 100 N. Broadway, Haysville City Hall at 200 W. Grand Ave. and the Sedgwick County Extension Office at 7001 W. 21st Street N.
