The county's first declaration was issued on March 18, 2020. One day later, the county's first case of COVID-19 was confirmed.

The original declaration was scheduled to expire on May 16, 2020. On May 13, the board voted to extend the declaration until rescinded.

The county is moving into the recovery phase of the pandemic. The county says the community level of the virus remains low, however the current two-week trends show new cases and the percentage of positive cases are rising.
