McConnell Air Force Base officials say a person was detained at the base after attempting to gain unauthorized access.
It happened around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, when a person refused to stop at the west gate. Security personnel stopped the vehicle a short distance beyond the entrance and the driver was taken into custody.
Inbound traffic was halted for a short time, but reopened after the suspect was detained. Base officials say the driver did not get near the McConnell flight line or airshow activities and did not impede the airshow performances.
The driver was questioned and the incident remains under investigation.
