Sedgwick County will not be purchasing the Murfin Building at 250 N. Water in downtown Wichita for administrative offices.

The county had until the end of November to perform their due diligence on the property. Citing concerns with the location, age of the building and the ability of the facility to hold the physical weight of records stored by the county, commissioners rejected a purchase of the building.

The county's lease in the downtown Ruffin Building ends on June 30, 2025 but could be extended if necessary. A proposed new building near 3rd and Main remains on the table as well.
