An out building was destroyed by fire south of Newton. It happened around 9:15 a.m. Thursday morning in the 5800 block of south Kansas Road, about five miles south of Newton.
Fire officials say a large shed when up in flames, and prompted crews to go on the defensive. Fire investigators say they believe a lythiem battery used to charge a golf cart, was responsible for the blaze.
There were no injuries in the fire, but the shed was declared a total loss.
