A former Wichita area teacher has pleaded guilty of having unlawful sexual relations with a minor student.
Matthew McFarren, 41, a former teacher at Trinity Academy was arrested in March of 2021. That's when police say they were notified of a possible relationship with a student.
Trinity Academy learned of the matter and terminated McFarren for a violation of employee expectations and school policy, and provided police with the information.
McFarren pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of Unlawful Sexual Relations; Teacher with student under16 years of age.
Sentencing was set for August 5.
