iDeal Motors, formerly located in the 4400 block of South Broadway, can no longer legally sell cars in Kansas and the owners, Adam and Andrea Newbrey, have been fined more than $159 thousand.

The DA’s investigation stemmed from two consumer complaints after the dealership failed to provide titles to buyers.

In one transaction, the dealership sold a consumer scrap vehicle without being properly licensed, used an unlicensed salesperson on the transaction, and falsely told the buyer the vehicle was a salvage vehicle.

In the second complaint, the dealership sold a vehicle with open safety recalls but did not disclose the information with the buyer. And in both cases, the dealership failed to deliver the title within 60 days and issued multiple 60-day temporary registration permits in violation of Kansas law.

The DA’s office said the defendants willfully failed to cooperate with the investigation.
