Four people including a KHP motorist assist technician were hospitalized Monday after a crash on I-235 in south Wichita. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol the crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. on southbound I-235 at MacArthur.
The KHP says a northbound SUV on I-235 crossed the center median and hit a KHP motorist assist vehicle head-on. Three people in the SUV were injured, one sent to the hospital in critical condition and two others with serious injuries. The KHP motorist assist technician received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
In a statement at the scene, KHP Trooper Chad Crittenden said construction had traffic narrowed to one lane on I-235 there.
“We do have workers out there that are much harder to see at nighttime," said Trooper Crittenden. "Especially when they have their warning and hazard lights on, sometimes it’s harder to see the workers out here themselves. But we do ask everybody to please drive cautiously and slow down at all costs out there.”
