A Goddard woman and a baby were killed after a crash in Kiowa County. It happened Sunday near Greensburg on U.S. 54 around 8:30 p.m. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a car driven by 40-year-old Akrienne R Deal was parked in the eastbound lanes and potentially disabled with its lights off. It was struck from behind by a semi truck. Deal and the baby were pronounced dead at the scene.
Deal was a teacher at Eisenhower High School in Goddard. The school district sent a notice to families of students advising that counselors will be available to meet with students, and asking for parents with concerns to contact the district offices.
