At Monday night’s Wichita School Board meeting, the Graduation+ Program was introduced.
The program allows for students to receive market value access with their diploma. Kelly Bielefeld, Executive Director of College and Career Readiness told the board, that the information can be recognized by businesses following graduation.
"It's a transferable certificate that they can use anywhere in the state," Bielefield told the board. "Instead of us just saying, yes, the student knows these skills, the certificate gives it a legitimacy, and a little more rigger, that is transferable,' he added.
The credentials can open the door to jobs and opportunities in the workforce. The board's goal is to have 2,000 students earn at least one industry certification for credentials.
