A Kansas woman has been charged through criminal complaint for a shooting death that took place on a federal military installation in Junction City, Kansas.
According to court documents, Margaret Shafe, 30, of Fort Riley is charged with murder in the second degree for shooting and killing Greg Shafe on February 19, 2024, while on Fort Riley.
The defendant made her initial court appearance Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Rachel E. Schwartz of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas. If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
The Department of Army Criminal Investigation Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating the case.
