The Wichita City Council will wait until late next month to vote on a resolution that would further clarify how the city will use potential sales tax proceeds.
The draft resolution outlined how public and private dollars would be used for the design and construction of a new, downtown public performing arts center. However, the public must first vote on the sales tax measure on March 3. If it passes, the city will impose a 1 percent sales tax to fund public safety improvements and other projects.
The city will hold a meeting and workshop on January 27 for further discussions.
The council accepted a $654 thousand donation from QuikTrip. Those funds will be used to purchase more drone hardware slated for the QuikTrip at Douglas and Washington. The city is confident the drones can help deter street racing that plagues this area, along with other crimes.
