A man died overnight in a house fire in northeast Wichita.
The blaze was reported before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of N. Fountain. A Wichita Police officer was on patrol and came across the house on fire.
Wichita fire crews arrived shortly thereafter and found a man inside the home, not breathing.
Wichita Battalion Chief Lane Pearman said despite life saving measures, the man died on the scene.
A cause for the fire has not been determined, nor a damage estimate.
