Wichita fire officials confirm a man has died after a house fire Friday night in west Wichita.
The fire was reported just before 9 p.m., in the 1200 block of North Wilbur Lane, near 13th Street North and Ridge Road. Fire crews found the man unresponsive on the main floor of the home. He was transported to the Ascension Via Christi St. Francis burn center where he died from his injuries.
The Wichita Fire Department said the majority of the blaze was contained to the home's basement, but smoke damage was prevalent throughout the structure.
The victim has not been identified. There's no word yet on exactly how he died, what started the fire and a damage estimate.
