Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News the new police chief is already on the job, attending meetings and "trying to get a feel for things." Joseph Sullivan is scheduled to start work in Wichita next month. WPD has been the center of several controversies over the past few months. Mayor Whipple says Sullivan is well aware of the department's problems, "he knows what he's walking into." Whipple says the goal is to make Wichita's police department the best in the Midwest. Whipple commented during Mondays with the Mayor, on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
