
Two people are dead, several others injured in a crash after midnight Thursday on I-35 in Sumner County. According to Mulvane Fire Rescue as many as a dozen people in total were treated for injuries.
The crash happened just south of the Mulvane exit of the Kansas Turnpike near the Kansas Star Casino. A southbound express van from Minnesota pulling a trailer rolled over and was struck by an SUV.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol there were 9 people in the van, and three in the SUV. Two of the van's passengers, 58-year-old Ernestina Eumana-Alvarez and infant boy Christian Gutierrez, both from Minnesota, were killed in the crash.
Fire and EMS crews from Mulvane, Wellington, Derby, Sumner County, and Sedgwick County all responded to the crash.
