The power was disconnected Tuesday at Wichita's Towne West Square after the owners, Kohan Retail Investment Group, had fallen delinquent on the electricity bill.
In a press release, Evergy said the larger stores at the mall have separate accounts that are in good standing and said the lights there are still on.
Stephanie Merritt is the Founder and Executive Director of ICT Food Rescue, who is based in Towne West Square. She confirmed to the Wichita City Council at a city workshop that the lights were indeed out.
This is the fourth time Towne West has had the power disconnected since last September.
